Social Justice Ministry

As a living expression of our faith, we heed Christ’s call to love our neighbor not just in words, but through concrete deeds. Guided by the rich tradition of Catholic Social Teaching and walking with the ‘Two Feet of Love in Action’ we strive not only to aid the immediate needs of our local community but to also address the imbalanced societal structures that contribute to injustice and inequality that affect all creation.

 Two Feet of Love in Action

Social Justice (Systemic Change): We work alongside community partners to address the root causes of poverty and injustice. Through advocacy, community organizing, and education, we strive to transform unfair structures and foster a more equitable society. Our current community partners include Laudato Si MN and ISAIAH MN.

 Charitable Works (Direct Aid): We coordinate with local groups to provide immediate assistance to those in crisis. Our current community partners include the Community Action Center, Ruth’s House of Hope, the Women’s Center of Northfield, and the Northfield Union of Youth (the Key) 

Catholic Social Teaching is a body of doctrine developed by the Catholic Church that applies Gospel values to modern economic, political, and social challenges. Rooted in Scripture and modern papal letters beginning with Pope Leo XIII’s 1891 encyclical Rerum Novarum, this framework aims to build a just society that respects human dignity.
