St. Dominic is blessed with many talented singers and instrumentalists who serve our parish community as cantors, choir members, and accompanists at weekend liturgies. Scheduling of groups and cantors is coordinated by the music director.  

If you are interested in participating in any of these ensembles or as an individual cantor or instrumentalist, please contact the Director of Music, Caroline Devney at the parish office for complete schedules and information on joining.  

This choir welcomes parishioners ages 14 and up who are interested in singing sacred music. This group learns pieces written in the classical style, both old and new, as well as traditional hymns and the occasional Latin piece. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m in the downstairs choir room. The choir sings at the 10:00 a.m. Mass on the first and third Sundays of the month, as well as on special feast days and holy days.

This volunteer group sings for funeral liturgies. To be added to the mailing list, contact the Director of Music.

This is a special volunteer group that sings at the Good Friday evening service only. The central focus of the group is the piece Miserere Mei Deus by Allegri, although other pieces will be sung as well. Singers must be able to match pitch, sing at sight, and blend with other singers, and must be comfortable singing unaccompanied in the renaissance polyphonic style. Please contact the music director if you are interested.

There are many opportunities to cantor at the Church of St. Dominic. Cantors are individuals or couples with a gift for singing who lead music at weekend Masses when choirs are not assigned. Training is available. If you are interested in this position, please contact the music director to arrange an audition. 

Pianists or organists are needed at every weekend service to lead and accompany cantors, choirs, and the congregation. This is a paid position. Please contact Caroline Devney to set up an interview at 504-645-8816 ext 207 or [email protected].
