How does Family Formation work?

Classroom LessonsDuring a monthly church gathering, children meet in grade-specific class settings while all parents gather for an adult session on the same topic and receive the materials which they will use at home for the rest of the month.
Family Formation will meet on the first Sunday of the month.
Time: 8:10 - 9:40 a.m.

Home LessonsParents, equipped with materials and an understanding of the weekly lessons (approx. 45 min), teach their children the faith. Through hands-on activities, games, Scripture and music, children see the beauty of the Catholic Faith and families grow in the transforming love of God.
Chose a weekly time that works for your family's schedule.

Family Formation for Grades 2-8

Children entering second grade through grade eight will participate in Family Formation, a tried and true curriculum developed by parents and driven by Sacred Scripture. The program is offered in both English and Spanish, cooperates with the 3-year liturgical cycle and has been approved by the USCCB.

Sacramental Preparation for Reconciliation and First Communion are incorporated into the Family Formation Program.These Sacraments are typically received when a child is Grade 2 and is part of the Grade 2 to curriculum. If you child is older than Grade 2, they will still participate in Family Formation program for their given age group, but will have supplimental guidance in preparation for recieving the Sacraments of Reconciliationa and First Communion.

Reconciliation - Saturday, January 10, 2026, 8:00 - 10:00 am Church
First Communion - Sunday, May 17, 2025

Baptismal Record
In order for your child to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, we need the name and address of the church where your child was baptized so that a Sacramental Record of Baptism can be obtained.
Please complete the online form below by Nov. 15, 2025. If your child was baptized in the United States and you complete the form, no further steps will be required.
If your child was not baptized in the United States, please complete the form and then contact the church where your child was baptized and request your child’s baptismal record. Request that it be mailed directly to the St. Dominic parish office by December 1, 2025.
Si su hijo/a no fue bautizado/a en Estados Unidos, complete el formulario y luego comuníquese con la iglesia donde fue bautizado/a y solicite el acta de bautismo. Solicite que se envíe directamente a la oficina parroquial de Santo Domingo antes del 1 de diciembre de 2025.
