Our college ministry seeks to provide a supportive environment for students wanting to grow in faith and understanding of God in community with our parish and with other students. We are inspired by the Gospel’s call to service, the Catholic Church’s call to evangelize and our own call in seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the pursuit of knowledge, truth, and vocation.
This ministry provides a variety of worship and prayer, catechesis and formation for human and spiritual growth, and service and social encounters for all college aged young adults. We invite you to join us as we move and act to transform ourselves to be like Christ and to better encounter God’s presence in our lives and in the world around us.
My hopes and dreams for the future with you...
As I think about this college ministry, being among you and with you, the words of Pope St. John Paul II come into my mind. While in Los Angeles in 1987 he said to the youth, “God continues to speak to every human person. Dear young people of America, listen to his voice. Do not be afraid. Open up your hearts to Christ. The deepest joy there is in life is the joy that comes from God and is found in Jesus Chris, the Son of God. He is the hope of the world. Jesus Christ is your hope and mine."
My ministry among you will be of journeying and growing together into the knowledge of our faith and human capacities, as well as discovering the truth and discernment of our vocations. I wish and pray that you will open up your hearts so that you may discover your youthful potential, be active and embrace faith, and serve the Church, the world and humanity, and give ourselves generously to others with joy.
My dear friends in Christ, come, come, come and make a community of faith with your peers and collaborate with the college ministry of St. Dominic Church, for you are the future Church, you are the hope of the Church, of the world. You bring hope to humanity, as “the future of the Church and the world shines in your eyes."
